Children's Oral Health

Grass Roots have been part of the Let's Brush Pilot Program due to Calderdale having the highest number of tooth decay in the Yorkshire and Humber Region.

Tooth decay can lead to pain and infection, sleepless nights for child and parent / carer, major dental treatment, such as the removal of decayed teeth under general anesthetic
Good oral health is important to help children smile and feel confident, eat and talk, as well as maintaining the spaces for permanent teeth (second teeth).

The Let's Brush Program has given us the resources, training and support for us to carry out toothbrushing in setting to support toothbrushing at home and reduce inequalities for those children that may not be brushing their teeth due to varying reasons.

We are also signed up to the Sugar Smart Scheme and pledge to work with our families and community to offer support through our sugar crisis and combat disease and inequalities created by poor diet.
